This team really knows their coffee. Specialising in beans from Southeast Asia, Vernacular roasts their own beans, creating amazing flavour profiles which are robust yet smooth. Food is excellent , focusing on croissant-based brunch delights with a local twist, such as kaya and curry chicken. But also offering more traditional offerings eg. Smoked salmon, ricotta and tomato. They use high quality ingredients and take pride in what they do, making this a neighbourhood coffee shop which we’ve retuned to again and again.

Went on a Monday for brunch so cafe was not very crowded. Got the recommended kaya croissant which was not overly sweet and they have different range of coffee beans for you to choose for your caffein fix. I also got their Danish pastry with white grape and Parma ham which was also good though the Parma ham was abit hard in texture to my liking. Will come back to this cafe again.

From the outside, difficult to tell this place exists or even open...but glad we found it for breakfast. Interesting and delish combos on danish pastries, and can choose your coffee bean for any coffee lovers out there. Reasonably priced and relaxed vibe. You're greeted and shown to table, then over to you to order and pay from qr code on table.

Highly recommend! A variety of flavorful beans choices, black and flat white done well. Pulled pork croissant was so yummy with the right crisp. Beef ragu was also great with a spicy kick, might be too spicy for some. Overall will be back for the solid food and most importantly, not overpriced cafe food.

Am pleasantly suprised by their coffee. Very aromatic and not too sour for my liking. Other selections of coffee beans available. Ordered one kaya croissant to try. Kaya is not too sweet, and the croissant crusty. They have other varieties of pastries to choose from. Will come back again!

Review of Vernacular Coffee Vernacular Coffee boasts an impressive lineup of coffee and specialty blends. We tried the Bali Arabica, served with a swanky presentation that added a fun visual flair to the experience. The Peru Geisha, with subtle bergamot notes, was equally impressive—a refined brew that really awakened the senses. For breakfast, we shared their platter, which came with a freshly baked croissant, creamy scrambled eggs, grilled Portobello mushroom, crispy bacon, and cherry tomatoes. The croissant was a standout—flaky, buttery, and crisp, with satisfying layers that shattered lightly with every bite. Easily one of the best I’ve had. We also sampled the Chocolate Flan and the Blueberry Danish—both worth recommending, especially if you’re into pastries done right. I’m already looking forward to going back just to try more of their croissant variations. The only drawback is the ambience. The space has a raw, industrial look—almost like a warehouse canteen—and some seating lacks back support, which might not be ideal if you’re planning to stay long or work from there. Still, the coffee and food make Vernacular Coffee a place I’d gladly return to. A solid choice for anyone serious about their brews and bakes.
